Before I started my practice, I decided to do something memorable to market my new dental practice. I prepared 1,000 Halloween goody bags filled with sugar-free candy, toothbrushes, and my business card. But it wasn't just the contents of the goody bags that made an impact; it was how I presented them. I dressed up as a tooth fairy, complete with wings and a wand, and held my two-month-old daughter in my arms.
With a friendly smile and an inviting demeanor, I handed out these bags to families at a local community Halloween parade. This event marked the beginning of my practice, and it was a marketing strategy that truly resonated with the community. Many of my first patients, who have been with me for over 18 years, still remember that day vividly. The image of a dentist dressed as a tooth fairy handing out sugar-free candy and toothbrushes created a lasting impression that set the tone for my practice's patient-focused approach. More importantly, I continued to dress up and hand out dental bags. The only difference was we continued to add characters to our marketing team.
