In the mosaic of my life, the journey from a student at Harvard School of Dental Medicine to the founder of NOVA Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics has been a tale of learning by doing, embracing authenticity, and finding success in the genuine connections forged along the way.
As a dentist, my journey began with a profound passion for pediatric dentistry. Yet, the realm of business was an unknown terrain for me. Unlike some, I didn't start with a business degree or a comprehensive understanding of entrepreneurship. What I had was a willingness to learn and a determination to turn my dream into reality.
Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Children's Hospital, Boston, provided the academic foundation, but the real lessons came beyond the classroom. My mentors became guiding lights, instilling in me not just clinical expertise but the art of learning from every experience. Little did I know that these lessons would serve as stepping stones in my entrepreneurial journey.
Venturing into entrepreneurship, I stumbled, I fell, but I kept moving forward. There were no formal business courses to guide me. Instead, I learned by doing, making mistakes, and understanding what worked for me. It was an odyssey of trial and error, an immersive experience that shaped my understanding of business in the most practical way.
In a world where business advice often leans toward conformity, I found my compass in authenticity. Being my authentic self became the cornerstone of my approach. I wasn't just a pediatric dentist; I was a mom, a small business owner with a burning desire to make a difference. And in that authenticity, I found a resonance with the families I served and the community I belonged to.
My journey wasn't about transactions; it was about relationships. I built connections with families and other local businesses. People didn't just see me as a dentist; they related to me as a fellow mom, a small business owner striving to make a positive impact. I understand the challenges, the uncertainties, and the joys that come with building something meaningful.
